Chicago Weather: Storms Possible During Active Weather Weekend

It’s going to be a tough weekend for weather in the Chicago area with storms possible and dangerous swimming conditions expected for numerous counties.

A Beach Hazards Alert ended at 10 a.m. Friday but dangerous conditions were still expected at beaches along the Illinois and northwest Indiana shores of Lake Michigan due to large waves and strong rip currents.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected in 30 to 50 percent of the area.

There is a marginal risk for severe storms Friday, particularly in northwest Indiana, where damaging winds and large hail were possible. Temperatures stay cooler in the low- to mid-70s, where they are expected to stay for the remainder of the weekend.

Though there will be many dry hours Saturday, there will also be scattered showers and isolated storms at times.

Showers will also be possible Sunday, likely in northwest Indiana, where a chance for an isolated thunderstorm remains.
