Parts of the Chicago area experienced a stormy Friday evening that brought strong winds and heavy rains to several communities.
Rain moved into the area late Friday morning and continued through the evening. Storms were expected to dump two or more inches of rain in some locations.
Fierce winds damaged several tents at the Oktoberfest in south suburban Manteno. Video from the suburb also showed floodwaters covering many roads, and multiple cars submerged by water.
No injuries were immediately reported.
A Flash Flood Watch was issued for portions of Illinois and northwest Indiana and remains in effect through late Friday evening. Counties included in the watch were Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle and Will counties in Illinois and Benton, Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties in Indiana.
The remainder of the weekend could see more rain with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-60s Saturday before rebound into the 70s again Sunday and back into the 80s for Monday.
