After a wintry weekend, the Chicago area will see another round of snow Monday afternoon, leaving behind 3-5 inches in most locations.

Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois, as well as Jasper, La Porte, Lake and Newton counties in Indiana, plus Kenosha County in Wisconsin, will remain under the advisory through 12 a.m. Tuesday.
In anticipation of the storm system headed for the Chicago area, both major airports canceled flights late Monday morning.
Airlines canceled more than 523 flights at O'Hare International airport, while Midway International Airport saw at least 38 cancellations before noon. Delays were expected at both airports, officials said, recommending that passengers check their flight status with the airline.

Snow is expected to develop in the far western portions of the Chicago area sometime around 2 to 3 p.m., shifting east in the late afternoon and early evening - impacting rush hour.

The snowfall will end from west to east Monday night, leaving between three and six inches of snow across the Chicago area. Skies will gradually clear, but bitter cold temperatures will continue.
Overnight lows will be between -5 degrees inland to 2 degrees in the city, with light southwest winds shifting to create wind chill readings below zero.
Even more snow is possible over the course of the week, with the next chance for light flurries developing Tuesday evening.
