Those who were dreaming of a white Christmas will have to settle for a rainy post-holiday.
A large area of rain was moving its way into the Chicago area early Thursday, slated to move into the city by around 8 a.m.
In the afternoon, the rainfall was expected to be more scattered but conditions will remain windy and warm.
Storms are possible, with winds gusting up to 40 mph. Temperatures stay warm, with a high of 50 degrees.
But the warmth won't last long, as Friday starts with mild temperatures but quickly fall to the 30s by the afternoon, and stay there through the new year.
The next chance for precipitation comes Saturday, as the morning could see flurries early before a mostly cloudy and colder day.
