Flood Warning in Effect as Rain Continues to Soak Chicago Area

A Flood Warning remained in effect across multiple Chicago-area counties Friday as rain continued to pour in many parts of the city and suburbs. 

The National Weather Services issued a Flood Warning for multiple rivers in Illinois and Indiana, impacting several counties. Those locations included:

Des Plaines River near Des Plaines affecting Cook County

Des Plaines River at Riverside affecting Cook County

East Branch Du Page River at Bolingbrook affecting Will County

Fox River at Dayton affecting La Salle County

Fox River at Montgomery affecting Kendall and Kane counties

Vermilion River near Leonore affecting La Salle County

Fox River at Algonquin Tailwater affecting Kane and McHenry counties

Kankakee River at Shelby affecting Lake and Newton counties in Indiana

Kankakee River at Davis affecting La Porte County in Indiana

Flash Flood Watches were also in effect for roughly all of north central Illinois through Friday morning at 7 a.m.

As much as three to four inches of rain fell in some locations beginning Thursday as scattered showers and thunderstorms dampened the first day of summer.

Friday brought little reprieve from the rain, as scattered showers and thunderstorms continued. Temperatures will reach the mid- to upper- 60s before dropping even into the 50s Friday evening.  [[486128701, C]] 

Saturday looks to be mostly cloudy with an isolated thunderstorm possible, though highs will reach the mid- to upper- 70s. 

Dry conditions return Sunday with temperatures warming into the low- to mid- 80s, and those rain-free conditions will likely stay through our next chance for storms on Tuesday night.
