Chicago's First Day of Spring Starts Rainy, Then Warms Up

Chicago weather: Temperatures climb later this week after a rainy start to spring

The Chicago area's first day of spring on Wednesday starts in line with the ole "spring showers" adage.

Rain showers are likely Wednesday morning mainly along and south of I-80, possibly reaching as far as I-88 before ending by early afternoon.

The rest of the day looks mostly to partly cloudy with high temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s and cooler along the lakefront.

The forecast then quickly moves into early summer territory.

Thursday looks mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the low 50s inland and cooler along the lakefront.

The same goes for Friday with mostly sunny, continued pleasant conditions and inland highs in the low to mid 50s.

Temperatures are expected to warm Saturday and Sunday to the upper 50s to 60 degrees.

Showers become possible again Sunday in the afternoon or evening as mild conditions continue, hopeful down payment for future May flowers.
