Man Jumped to Death in Water Tower Place, Cops Say

A death of a man inside Chicago's Water Tower Place on Monday night was a suicide, police told NBC Chicago.

The man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, jumped from the seventh floor of the atrium of the shopping center, at 835 N. Michigan Ave., at about 9 p.m.

The man's name was not publicly released as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Several agencies in Chicago, such as Elyssa's Mission and the Community Counseling Centers of Chicago, offer help to prevent suicides. In addition, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 800-273-TALK.
