1 Dead, at Least 10 People Wounded in Sunday Shootings

One person is dead and at least 10 others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago on Sunday.

In the 10600 block of South Green Bay, a 28-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when a black SUV drove by, and a person inside fired shots at him. 

The man was hit in the left shoulder and the left side of his stomach. He was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, and was later pronounced dead. 

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting. 

According to police, a 24-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in the head in the 200 block of East Garfield. The man was walking on a sidewalk at 2:30 a.m. when an unknown person opened fire.

Police are still investigating for more details, and no arrests have been made.

Later in the day, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the left hip while he was standing on a street corner in the 7900 block of South Vernon, police said.

The person who fired the shots jumped back into a sedan and fled the scene after the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the victim was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

A 26-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in the left leg, police said. The incident occurred in the 6400 block of South Morgan at approximately 5:25 p.m., and the man was rushed to St. Bernard Hospital.

No suspects are in custody in connection with the shooting.

A 57-year-old man was shot late Sunday in the 4100 block of West Potomac, police said. Four men approached the victim in a gangway, and one opened fire, striking him in the armpit. 

The man was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, police said.

  • A 26-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 4800 block of West Wilcox, police said. The man, who was standing outside when two men approached him and opened fire, is in good condition at Loretto Hospital.
  • Just before 3 a.m., a 16-year-old was standing on a sidewalk in the 1200 block of South Lawndale when two men walked up and opened fire. The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition after being struck in the foot.
  • A 23-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his head when a person in a black sedan fired shots at him in the 6300 block of South Ingleside, police said. The man was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in stable condition.
  • In the 200 block of South Ashland at approximately 3:45 a.m., a 19-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when a person in a dark colored sedan opened fire, striking him in the abdomen. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.
  • A 24-year-old man was shot in the left foot in the 1600 block of West Congress Parkway, police said. The man is being uncooperative with police.
  • In the 3800 block of West Gladys, a 21-year-old man heard shots and felt pain in his left thigh just before 7 p.m., police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
