Parts of Blue Line Briefly Shut Down Due to Person on Tracks

Authorities on Wednesday responded to a report of a person on the Blue Line tracks in West Town.

Police and firefighters were at the Divison Blue Line station just before 10:30 a.m., 1200 N. Milwaukee Ave., responding to a report of a person on the tracks, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

Chicago Police News Affairs said a man in his 20s was found dead on the tracks between the Chicago and Division platforms. Police said a death investigation is underway.

Initially, power was removed from the tracks in both directions, Hosinski said. Trains were operating between O’Hare and Damen, and LaSalle and Forest Park.

The CTA set up a shuttle to operate between Damen and LaSalle, Hosinski said. Customers can also take the No. 56 Milwaukee bus as an alternative.

Normal train service had resumed by noon, officials said.
