Man Questioned in Attack Near CTA Blue Line

Woman said she was attacked Tuesday after getting off a CTA train near the 900 block of West Van Buren Street

A man indicating his image was released earlier this week in connection with the attack of a woman near a Chicago Transit Authority train stop turned himself into police Thursday night.

A police department spokesman said officers on Friday morning were questioning the man and trying to confirm if he had any role in the crime. No charges were filed as of 11:30 a.m.

The department on Wednesday released surveillance images of a man at the UIC-Halsted station,  on the CTA's Blue Line, who they say attacked a 19-year-old woman a day earlier.

The attacker was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s who stood about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a red and white logo and was carrying a dark backpack.

Anyone with information about the attack should call police at 312-747-8380.
