Thanksgiving Eve: Windy & Chilly

You'll likely need two things as you make your way outside Wednesday, whether it be to work or to grandmother's house:  a heavy coat and an umbrella.

With temperatures right around the freezing mark, a mix of rain and freezing rain was coming down on the Chicago area at midday.

No accumulation is expected and temperatures are expected to rise slightly as the system makes its slow march to the north.  The mix will become all rain in the late afternoon hours and a few storms are possible in the evening.

But all day, the story will be windy and chilly with temperatures near 34 degrees.

Temperatures around the area at midday:

O'Hare: 34
Midway: 33
Waukegan: 36
Kankakee: 34

The story continues Thursday -- Thanksgiving -- with cloudy, windy and chilly conditions.  Some freezing drizzle, ice pellets or snow showers are possible.  In Chicago, Thanksgiving morning temperatures will be around 36 degrees and slowly fall into the upper 20s by the evening (right around the time the tryptophan kicks in).  Overnight lows from Thursday to Friday may be in the teens.

These temperatures come just two days after an unseasonal blast of warm air pushed temperatures into the mid-60s and sparked off at least one tornado.
