The Chicago Fire Department shared a tip on Twitter to help residents avoid having their car turn into a “death chamber” in anticipation of a winter storm Thursday that could leave several inches of snow accumulating.
The department wants car owners to be aware of snow that could be blocking their vehicle’s tailpipe before warming it up.

“A blocked tailpipe can make the interior a death chamber!” the department tweeted.
Drivers are advised to clear the snow from the tailpipe area before starting their cars.
