Man Killed in South Side Carjacking

Police say they don't know if attack on 2300 block of West 80th Street was random or if victim was targeted

A man was shot and killed during a carjacking in Chicago's Ashburn neighborhood Tuesday night, police said.

Paul Pyron, 21, was in a black Ford Expedition on the 2300 block of West 80th Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. when two people attacked him, officials said.

Pyron was shot in the chest and the two people drove off in the SUV. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

His sister, Tanisha Pyron, posted on Facebook that her brother was killed just months after they'd reconnected.

"Last November God blessed me to connect with my long lost brother on my dad's side," she wrote. "Rest in Heaven lil [sic] brother. I found my brother and they shot him. They took my family away from me. For nothing."

Authorities on Thursday morning said they still had not recovered the Expedition and were looking for the shooters. No description of the attackers was released.

Area Central detectives said they were conducting a homicide investigation.
