Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson was released from the hospital Monday after he was hospitalized Friday for a blood clot in his lung.
Johnson's first post-hospital stop will be to his office at CPD headquarters to meet with command staff, Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a tweet.
"Special thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses for their care and hospitality and thanks to everyone for all the well wishes & support," Guglielmi tweeted.
Johnson was undergoing an annual stress test at Rush University Medical Center on Friday when doctors discovered the small clot.
"The Superintendent is in great spirits and wanted to let everyone know that he appreciates the well-wishes," Guglielmi said in a statement.
The department initially expected Johnson to remain hospitalized overnight Friday for observation as doctors planned to treat the blood clot with medication.
