The Chicago Police Department is offering anyone who may have had equipment or property stolen the chance to look through recovered items.
Numerous pieces of "industrial grade" equipment stolen from construction sites around the city have been recovered, CPD said in a statement.
Residents who have had that kind of property stolen were invited to examine the items this week at CPD's 10th and 25th Districts to see if anything was stolen from them.
The items were scheduled to be available to view at the 10th District headquarters, located at 3315 W. Ogden Ave., and the 25th District headquarters, located at 5555 W. Grand Ave., from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, authorities said.
Several construction crews and victims showed up at the walk-through Monday morning, some walking away empty-handed but others able to recover items stolen six months ago.
"Usually these things happen from time to time," said Hill Group Director of Tools and Logistics Harry Humyak, who said his company had recovered at least $4,000 worth of equipment.
"Thieves get crafty and sometimes you just have to accept it," he continued, adding, "Maybe with a little more luck of the Irish, we’ll find some more."

Any victims of theft looking to recover their property were asked to bring proper documentation from the incident, including case report number and identification.
