Woman Sexually Assaulted at Knifepoint on South Side

The woman was forced into a vehicle, where a man sexually assaulted her

Chicago police are searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint on Aug. 10 in the city’s Gresham neighborhood.

According to authorities, a woman was walking in the 7600 block of South Halsted at approximately 5 a.m. when a man approached her and pushed an unknown object into her back. The man then ordered the woman to get into his vehicle, and he drove away with her in the car.

Police say the man then stopped his car in an alley in the 7700 block of South Peoria and sexually assaulted the woman at knifepoint. She was able to escape from the car, and the man fled the scene.

The assailant is described as an African-American man between the ages of 20 and 30, standing approximately 6-feet-2 and having a medium-brown complexion. The man was driving a red vehicle, but the victim was unable to give the make and model of the car.
