Chicago Police Shoot Suspect in Lawndale, Officials Say

The incident occurred in the 2100 block of South Keeler on Saturday evening

A person has been shot following an altercation with Chicago police in the city’s Lawndale neighborhood on the city’s West Side, according to authorities.

According to a police spokesman, the man was shot by police in the 2100 block of South Keeler on Saturday night.

Police say that officers attempted to stop a car for a traffic stop, and the vehicle attempted to flee. 

That vehicle ended up crashing, and several armed individuals got out of the car and got into a confrontation with Chicago police officers. 

According to authorities, the officers shot a man during the confrontation, and he was taken to an area hospital. 

Weapons were recovered at the scene, according to police.
