Hospitals Welcome New Year's Day Babies

Aydan Alvarado was born at 12:08 a.m.

At least two Chicago-area families started the new year with new bundles of joy.

A boy was born just eight minutes after midnight to parents Georgina Acosta and Fernando Alvarado at Saint Anthony Hospital.

Aydan Alvarado weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

Elsewhere, a girl was born as 12:23 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The 5 pound, 12 ounce girl was born to Aileen Herrera and Eduardo Jimenez of Arlington Heights, according to information provided by the hospital.

The baby, who joins two sisters, had not been named as of early Tuesday, said hospital spokeswoman Robyn Ali.

A Saint Anthony Hospital spokeswoman said roughly 2,000 babies are born at its facility each year. Advocate Lutheran General Hospital reported 4,003 deliveries last year.
