Chicago-Bound Flight Forced to Land in Canada

An American Airlines flight from London's Heathrow Airport to Chicago O'Hare was forced to land in New Brunswick Tuesday afternoon due to a report of smoke in the cockpit.

Members of the Dieppe Fire Department searched the Boeing 777 after it landed at Greater Moncton International Airport and found the smoke was caused by an electrical fire due to a battery that had overheated, the CBC reported.

None of the approximately 150 passengers on board were injured.  They were taken to the airport where they were waiting for another plan to carry them to Chicago, GlobalMaritimes.com reported.
