Sunny Skies Give Way to Chance of Late Rain Saturday

Temperatures are expected to top out in the low 70s on Saturday

The Labor Day weekend is going to get off to a sunny start on Saturday, but late showers could move through the area and linger through part of Sunday.

Sunny skies will dominate the day early on Saturday, with winds out of the east keeping things nice and cool in the Chicago area. Temperatures are only expected to reach the low 70s, giving residents a pleasant afternoon to kick off their holiday weekend.

As the evening wears on, showers will begin to develop in western Illinois, and by 10 p.m. rain could begin hitting the far western suburbs, according to forecast models.

Those showers will remain in the area throughout the morning Sunday before finally moving out around the noon hour. After their departure, winds will change directions, coming out of the west, and as a result temperatures will climb slightly into the mid 70s on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Monday will see more of the same, with temperatures topping out around 80 degrees for the Labor Day holiday.

Isolated thunderstorms could impact the area on Tuesday as temperatures climb into the mid-80’s, but more pleasant conditions should return by the middle of the week, as sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s are in the forecast.
