As forecasted, the leisurely warm day turned into a take-cover evening as storms passed over Chicagoland.
The storm brought lightning, heavy downpours and hail.
Quarter-size hail was reported in Evergreen Park, with wind gusts up to 60 mph reported in Hometown.
In Wauconda, a house started on fire because of a lightning strike, officials said. And in McHenry, an entire parking lot in McHenry was reportedly underwater.
The rain will continue into Thursday with a chance of showers. The high will reach a balmy 83 degrees but will drop to 64 degrees by night fall.
Expect some fall-like temperatures this weekend. Highs in the upper-50s are on the radar Saturday and Sunday.
