It will be a chilly and occasionally rainy day in the Chicago area on Sunday as temperatures will remain below their seasonal average.
After a cloudy start to the day, scattered showers are expected to move through the region beginning in the late morning, and off-and-on rain is expected through the remainder of the day. The western suburbs will get the rain earlier in the day, while the city of Chicago can expect the rain to begin in the early afternoon.
High temperatures are expected to fall just short of the 40 degree mark in the city, but a warm-up is on the way as the work week gets underway.
Light drizzle and widely scattered showers are still expected in the overnight hours and into the day on Monday, but temperatures will slowly begin their warming trend, with highs in the low-to-mid 40s.
That warm-up will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs reaching the low-to-mid 50s by midweek.
A cold front will end the upward momentum on Thursday night, with highs dropping back into the mid-40s by the end of the work week.
