A Chicago-bound United Airlines flight traveling from London, England was diverted early Tuesday morning due to a mid-air emergency.
Flight 929 had departed from Heathrow Airport at 7:50 a.m. London time and was on its way to Chicago’s O’Hare when the pilot declared a mid-air emergency as it was flying over northern England.
The Boeing 767, with 119 passengers and 11 crew members on board at the time, was diverted to Edinburgh, Scotland where it landed safely at 9:45 a.m. local time.
A United Airlines spokesperson told NBC 5 the plane had a “mechanical issue.”
The Sun reports the flight was forced to land due to a fuel leak, but that has not been confirmed by airline officials.
No injuries were reported. The flight is expected to make it to its original destination of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Tuesday morning.
