CFD: 5 People Hurt When Boat Hits Lake Michigan Breakwall

A total of five people were injured when their boat hit a Lake Michigan breakwall near Randolph Street on Wednesday night, Chicago fire officials said.

According to CFD News Affairs, a 25-foot power boat was traveling on the lake Wednesday night when it struck a breakwall, ejecting two passengers from the vessel.

The victims landed on the breakwall, where they were rescued by first responders.

Three other victims were taken to area hospitals with unspecified injuries in the crash.

Two of the victims were in red (serious-to-critical condition) and three others were transported in green condition, officials said.

Fire officials are investigating the crash, but say that speed may have been a factor in the collision.
