"Chicago Fire" is one of five NBC dramas that were renewed for the 2013-14 season, network officials announced Monday.
The show, which is shot in the city, was given a 22-episode order.
In a news release announcing the renewals, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke highlighted "Chicago Fire" and "Revolution" as two "first season successes."
"Chicago Fire" topped its premiere audience of 6.6 million eight times over this its first season and has improved the time slot for the network 24 percent versus the same period one year ago. The only other new drama on NBC to top the numbers of its premier even once was "Hannibal."
The show airs at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Additional NBC dramas that were renewed include "Revolution," "Parenthood," "Grimm" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
