Mayday Call Issued as Crews Battle South Side Fire

Firefighter listed in good condition at Advocate Trinity Hospital

A mayday call was issued Monday morning as fire crews dealt with a fire at a restaurant on Chicago's south side.

Officials said the distress call was made because a firefighter was in some sort of trouble on the roof of the building of the Lion's Den Restaurant, on East 105th Street and South Ewing Avenue.

Officials said firefighters had the situation under control at around 7 a.m. All firefighters were accounted for, officials said, with one taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in "good" condition.

Ewing was closed to traffic in the area as first responders tended to the fire.

There was no immediate word as to a cause of the fire.
