Cubs, White Sox Announce 2020 Schedules

The Crosstown Classic will feature a pair of two-game series July 7-8 at Guaranteed Rate Field and July 20-21 at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs and White Sox are set to open their 2020 seasons on the same day, but in different cities.

The MLB announced tentative 2020 regular season schedules Monday, revealing the Sox will open up their season on March 26 at Guaranteed Rate Field against Kansas City. The Cubs will open their 145th season that same day at the Milwaukee Brewers, marking the fifth year in a row the North Side team will open on the road.

The White Sox home opener will be the earliest in franchise and major-league history. It kicks off a three-game series against the Royals in Chicago.

The first road trip for the Sox involves a six-game, seven-day trek to Cleveland and Boston, the team said, beginning on March 30. Chicago will be the first opponent of the season at Fenway Park.

Arguably one of the most notable games on the Sox schedule is the "Field of Dreams" game against the Yankees on Aug. 13. The team is expected to play the first-ever major-league baseball game in Iowa where the iconic 1989 baseball movie was filmed.

Meanwhile, the Cubs' home opener is set for March 30 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A highlight for the Cubs' schedule includes the club's first-ever trip to London, England, where they will play a pair of games, scheduled for June 13-14, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Crosstown Classic will feature a pair of two-game series July 7-8 at Guaranteed Rate Field and July 20-21 at Wrigley Field.
