The Chicago Cubs have added another infielder to their roster, acquiring Ronald Torreyes from the New York Yankees.

Torreyes, who was originally acquired by the Cubs in 2011 in the trade that sent Sean Marshall to the Cincinnati Reds, has bounced around since then, appearing in big league games for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Yankees over the past four seasons.

In 41 games last season, Torreyes had eight extra-base hits and seven RBI, and batted .280 in 102 plate appearances.

In exchange, the Cubs will send a player to be named later or cash considerations to the Yankees.

The Cubs’ 40-man roster now stands at 39 players with the deal.
