The Chicago Cubs made a roster move Wednesday, claiming left-handed pitcher C.D. Pelham off of waivers from the Texas Rangers.
Pelham, a hard-throwing reliever, struggled last season in 42 appearances at the Double-A and Triple-A levels for the Rangers, posting a 11.97 ERA in a total of 42 appearances. He struck out 37 batters in 32.1 innings of work, but also recorded 40 walks.
Pelham was a 33rd-round pick by the Rangers in the 2015 MLB Draft.
The Cubs’ 40-man roster now stands at 38 players after the move.
