Mets Blow Out Cubs, Snap Chicago's 7-Game Winning Streak

Alec Mills gave up a first inning grand slam as the Mets cruised to the win

New York Mets infielder Todd Frazier hit a first-inning grand slam, and pitcher Jason Vargas gave up one earned run in 5.1 innings of work as they cruised to a 10-3 win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The loss snaps the Cubs' seven-game winning streak.

Pitcher Alec Mills gave up the grand slam in the first inning, but recovered and struck out five batters in five innings of work.

Ian Happ had an RBI infield single, and Victor Caratini hit his first home run of the game in the defeat.

After losing the completion of a game earlier Wednesday, the Mets came out swinging, as Frazier blasted a grand slam into the left field bleachers to give them the early lead.

The Mets were then held off the board until the seventh, when they strung together several hits in a row to extend their lead. Jose Reyes dealt the big blow in the frame, smacking an RBI triple to score two runs and give the Mets a seven-run lead.

Frazier added an RBI single in the ninth for good measure, and even though Caratini hit a home run in the bottom of the frame, the Cubs couldn't continue the rally as their winning streak came to an end.

The Cubs will embark on a four-city, 11 game road trip beginning Thursday, as they take on the Atlanta Braves in a make-up game at SunTrust Park.
