Chicago Cubs Reveal Opening Day Lineup vs. Rangers

Jon Lester will take the ball for the fourth time as the Cubs' Opening Day starter

The Chicago Cubs are getting set to take on the Texas Rangers on Opening Day in Arlington, and the team has revealed how Joe Maddon’s club will line up for the big game.

The Cubs, who are looking to bounce back from last season’s disappointing Wild Card loss to the Colorado Rockies, haven’t begun a season in an American League park since 2016, when they beat the Los Angeles Angels to start a campaign that culminated in a World Series title.

Here is how the Cubs will line up against the Rangers:

1 Albert Almora Jr. – CF

2 Kris Bryant – 3B

3 Anthony Rizzo – 1B

4 Javier Baez – SS

5 Willson Contreras – C

6 David Bote – 2B

7 Ben Zobrist – DH

8 Jason Heyward – RF

9 Mark Zagunis – LF

Former Blackhawk and NBC hockey analyst Eddie Olczyk has an important new mission alongside his father, urging people to get early screenings after he survived colon cancer. Lauren Petty reports.

Jon Lester will start his fourth Opening Day game for the Cubs, but won’t have to bat as the Cubs are able to use a designated hitter for the contest.

Kyle Schwarber and Daniel Descalso will both be available off the bench for the Cubs in the game, as the team is facing a left-handed starter in Mike Minor.
