Kris Bryant, Javier Baez Agree to Contracts With Cubs, Report Says

Bryant will get a raise of $2 million next season, while Baez will get an even bigger raise

Chicago Cubs infielders Kris Bryant and Javier Baez will both get significant raises for next season after both players reportedly agreed to new contracts with the team.

According to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, Baez will make $5.2 million next season after reaching a settlement prior to Friday’s arbitration filing deadline. That amount will represent a raise of $4.6 million for the infielder, who was the runner-up in National League MVP voting last season.

As for Bryant, the third baseman will make just under $13 million next season, getting a pay raise of $2 million. Bryant is still under Cubs control through the end of the 2021 season, but will be hoping to bounce back after an injury-plagued 2018 campaign.

Earlier Friday, five other Cubs players received settlements from the team, meaning that no Cubs players will have to exchange arbitration numbers with the club.
