Cubs Give Fans Excuse Note to Get Out of Work and School for Big Game

The Cubs and Brewers will play a one-game tiebreaker to determine the division winner

If you’re thinking about playing hooky from work or school to catch the Chicago Cubs play the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday afternoon, the team has got your excuse note ready.

The Cubs, who will play the Brewers to determine the winner of the National League Central Division at Wrigley Field, posted the letter on their social media channels to encourage fans to make the trip out to the Friendly Confines:

The note reads:

“To Whom It May Concern:

We’ve invited our neighbors to the north to our place tomorrow for nine-ish more innings of regular season baseball before we officially get the postseason underway.

Work and school are important obligations, but it’s also important that we get EVERYBODY IN Wrigley Field to cheer us on as we battle for our third straight NL Central crown.

Please excuse _____ from ______ on Monday, Oct. 1, so they can put on their favorite Cubs gear and help make Wrigley Field LOUD.”

The winner of the game will move on to the National League Division Series, and will be off until Thursday. The loser of the game will host the National League Wild Card Game on Tuesday night, and will take on either the Colorado Rockies or Los Angeles Dodgers.
