No Rizzo: Cubs Set Lineup for Home Opener vs. Pirates

The Chicago Cubs are preparing to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in their home opener, but they once again will be without one of their biggest stars.

Anthony Rizzo, who missed the final three games of the team’s series against the Milwaukee Brewers, will once again be out of the lineup as he continues to deal with back stiffness.

“I want to play tomorrow,” Rizzo had said Sunday before the team’s game against the Brewers. “At the same time, you want to be smart.”

With Rizzo out of the lineup, the Cubs will play Ben Zobrist at first base, and will lineup like so when they take on the Pirates at a chilly Wrigley Field:

1 Ian Happ – CF

2 Kris Bryant  - 3B

3 Willson Contreras – C

4 Kyle Schwarber – LF

5 Addison Russell – SS

6 Ben Zobrist – 1B

7 Jason Heyward – RF

8 Javier Baez – 2B

9 Tyler Chatwood – P

First pitch was delayed Monday due to snow, with the game now set to begin at 2:20 p.m. as the Pirates bring their 7-2 record to Wrigley Field to take on the 5-4 Cubs.
