Chicago is home to a slew of popular breweries, but only one made a new list of the best breweries in the United States.
The list, compiled by Yelp and USA Today, used an algorithm that took a look at the number of reviews, star ratings and other factors for breweries around the country, and only one brewery in Chicago made the cut.
That brewery is Argus, which is located at 11314 S. Front St., in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood. The brewery, located next door to the 115th and Kensington stop on the Metra Electric Line, was praised for its Holsteiner Lager, which won a Bronze Medal at the World Beer Cup.
“The Chicago brewery, rated five stars with 70 reviews, offers beer tours and promises an ‘authentic Chicago’ attitude to its patrons,” the ranking says.
Most of the breweries on the list were located in coastal states, as California and Washington dominated the rankings.
