What Local Biz Owners Should Know about Yelp's Free Reporting Tools

Did you know that in the second quarter of 2012, Yelp had an average of 78 million monthly unique visitors, and the mobile app was used on approximately 7.2 million unique devices per month during the same period.

If you’ve ever wondered how many of those people were learning about your business through Yelp, wonder no more. The company has bevy of free reporting tools for business owners that can help you understand how many people are finding your business through the site.

Here is what you need to know.

“User views” graph

When you log into your free business owner account, this graph will:

present the amount of traffic to your Yelp page, as well as views from mobile devices,
allow you to measure traffic to your business over 30 day, 12 month, and 24 month periods, and
track how many times your business showed up in Yelp’s organic search results over a rolling 30-day period.

Mobile, user engagement with your Yelp business profile

To show how some of the 7.2 million consumers interacted with your business on Yelp, a section of the business dashboard called “user actions” gives you monthly reporting and insight on:

  • the number of mobile check-ins,
  • how many calls were made to your business,
  • number of times someone mapped directions to your business,
  • photos uploaded to your business page,
  • clicks to your website, Yelp bookmarks, and Yelp deals sold.

Yelp’s engineering team used input from the business owner community (including Yelp’s Small Business Advisory Council) to fine-tune these features. Be sure to claim your listing via biz.yelp.com to take advantage of these new in-depth metrics, as well as our suite of free tools to engage potential customers, and respond to reviewers.
