Chicago Ideas Week is coming back once again, and the third time around we’re all hopefully more savvy about the event and what it offers. But nobody’s an expert, and nobody can possibly be expected to catch everything they’d want at the annual gathering of minds from multiple disciplines all over our city from Oct. 14 through Oct. 20. The event: This talk is scheduled to take place at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and tickets cost $15.
Who’s speaking: Keith Ferrazzi (Ferrazzi Greenlight), Renetta McCann (Leo Burnett), Alison Wolf (King’s College London), Justin Rosenstein (Asana), Gary Sinise (Hollywood) and Andy Stefanovich
Why you should care: Given the subject material, it’s a very unusual panel of speakers. The afternoon is intended to ask and explore the question: “what does the future look like in our rapidly changing work landscape?” Nevertheless, this is something that has been increasingly on people’s minds who exist outside the traditional lines of the day-to-day day job. This fall, the 37signals folks (a local web application company) are releasing a book titled “Remote,” which seeks to further legitimize the telecommuting existence, as if the subtitle “Office Not Required” doesn’t tip that off. Neither of that book’s authors will be there, but there is no denying this is a large part of the zeitgeist. Come here what they have to say about it.
