Chicago Burger Named Best in America, 2 Other Area Burgers Make Top 100

Chicago isn't just home to the best burger in America, the metro area apparently holds three of the top 100 burgers in the country

It's simple, it's cheesy - it's the best burger in America, according to Daily Meal.

The cheeseburger at Au Cheval has just gained another coveted title, earning the top spot out of 101 burgers analyzed by the Daily Meal for its list of best burgers in the U.S. for 2018.

The publication looked at about 300 burgers from across the country, evaluating online reviews and combing other best-of lists to ensure the country's best of the best had made the cut. After that, "culinary authorities" from across the country voted for their favorites.

Au Cheval's cheeseburger topped the list for its simplicity, authors said.

"The patties are wonderfully crusty, and just about everything about this burger is perfect," the article states.

But Au Cheval wasn't the only Chicago burger to make the cut.

Kuma's Corner's Kuma Burger also made the list at no. 16.

"There are burgers with tomatillo salsa and fried chiles and burgers with sriracha and grilled pineapple, but if you have to choose just one, go for the signature Kuma Burger: a fried egg, bacon, lettuce, onion, sharp Cheddar, and tomato. It’s not as though there’s not enough flavor in the burger, but that egg adds the extra “oomph” to make it truly memorable," the ranking states.

And following suit, the Griddled Burger at Edzo's in Evanston was also named at no. 34.

"But what burgers these are: choice chuck, hand-cut, and ground on-premises every morning, handled gently and given a shake of salt and pepper as they cook," according to the list.
