Chicago Bulls Set Team Record Against Atlanta Hawks

Zach LaVine had 47 points in the win

The Chicago Bulls have made some bad history this season, but on Friday night they etched their names into the record books for a good accomplishment during a win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Bulls, who went 5-5 in the month of February, continued their solid play of late as they picked up a 168-161 win over the hawks in quadruple overtime on Friday night.

According to the Pro Basketball Reference Play Index, the 168 points the Bulls scored are the most they have ever scored in a single game in franchise history, eclipsing the 156 points they scored in a quadruple overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers during the 1984 season.

It is the sixth time in Bulls history that they have scored over 150 points, and not surprisingly they are now 6-0 in those games.

The Bulls’ opponent also made a bit of history, and the feat has a Bulls connection. Rookie guard Trae Young had a monster game for the Hawks, scoring 49 points and dishing out 16 assists in the losing effort. According to ESPN Stats and Info, Young is the first NBA rookie to score at least 45 points and dish out 10 or more assists since Michael Jordan accomplished the feat for the Bulls during the 1984-85 season.

The Bulls and Hawks won’t have a lot of time to rest, as they will face off again in Chicago on Sunday afternoon at the United Center.
