Boozer, Noah, Deng to Participate in Basketball Without Borders

Also participating will be former Bulls Nate Robinson and Vladimir Radmanovic

The NBA’s Basketball Without Borders camp will return for an eighth year and Chicago Bulls players Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng will be some of the many players around the league participating in the global basketball development program that uses the game to create positive social change.

Also participating this summer will be Nate Robinson and Vladimir Radmanovic who suited up for the Bulls last season as well.

Portugal will host BWB Europe for the first time when the camp visits Almada from August 15–18. Boozer, Robinson and Radmanovic will lead a contingent of top players from across Europe, while WNBA Legend Ticha Penicheiro will lead a BWB Girls Camp for 40 local players.

BWB Africa will return to Johannesburg, South Africa for the 10th time August 29-September 1, and will feature Bismack Biyombo of the Charlotte Bobcats, Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving, Al Horford of the Atlanta Hawks, the aforementioned Deng and Noah, and Serge Ibaka, Thabo Sefolosha and Hasheem Thabeet from the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with NBA Global Ambassador Dikembe Mutombo, as camp coaches.

Basketball Without Borders features NBA players and coaches training top youth players and leading daily life-skills seminars on values such as leadership, character development, and living a healthy lifestyle. Through NBA Cares – the league’s global social responsibility program – the NBA players and coaches participate in community outreach efforts highlighted by the creation of places for children and families to live, learn or play.

Since its inception, the NBA and FIBA have staged 33 Basketball Without Borders camps in 20 cities in 17 countries. More than 140 different current and former NBA/WNBA players have joined with more than 100 NBA coaches to act as mentors for more than 1,900 campers from just over 100 countries, with 27 BWB campers drafted into the NBA.
