Chicago-Bound Plane Returns to Louisville Due to ‘Mechanical Issue'

Customers on the flight, which took off from Louisville International Airport, were rebooked on other flights

A Chicago-bound American Airlines plane was forced to return to Louisville, Kentucky Wednesday morning due to a “mechanical issue,” the airline said.

What exactly the issue was wasn’t immediately known, but a spokesperson for American Airlines said a maintenance team was still “troubleshooting the issue” as of about 10:30 a.m.

Customers on the flight, which took off from Louisville International Airport, were rebooked on other flights.

“Since most customers were connecting at O’Hare, we were able to book them via other American Airlines hubs or out other flights to Chicago,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

It wasn’t clear how many people were on the flight.
