Chicago Boasts One of the Safest Nabes in U.S.

Forest Glen earns a spot on Safest Neighborhoods in U.S. list

Chicago's Forest Glen neighborhood on the city's North side ranked among the The Safest Neighborhoods in 29 Top American Cities, according to a report on Walletpop.com.

The results are based on exclusive data generated by NeighborhoodScout.com and FBI metrics culled  from local law enforcement agencies. This year the neighborhood of Paces in Atlanta, Georgia took the top spot followed by Mt. Bonnell Road in Austin, TX; Locust Point in Baltimore, MD.; and Highland in Boston, Mass.

According to the research conducted, Forest Glen is safer than 75-percent of the other neighborhoods in the U.S. and the chance of being a victim in that locale is 1 in 86.

The results offer a nice contrast to Chicago owning the most dangerous neighborhood.

Back in October United Center Park earned the No. 1 spot in the 25 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods in the United States. The results from both reports stresses the importance of looking at neighborhoods as opposed to cities when making generalizations.

While no cities in Illinois made it on the list of 100 Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S., 8 cities in Illinois make the list for 100 Safest cities in the U.S. They include Barrington (20), Algonquin (35), Buffalo Grove (36), Lake Zurich (46), Woodstock (56), Gurnee (59), Wilmette (90), and Bartlett (92).
