The Chicago Blackhawks haven’t had much luck with goaltenders this season, and they can add another injury to the list as Anton Forsberg is done for the season.
Forsberg, who has started the majority of games in the absence of Corey Crawford, suffered the injury during warm-ups before Thursday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. He posted a 10-16-4 record and a 2.97 goals against average in 35 games.
As a result, the Blackhawks have called up goaltender Jean-Francois Berube, who was recently sent down to Rockford. He has a 2-5-1 record this season in 11 appearances, with a 3.93 goals against average and a .891 save percentage.
At this point at least, it appears that the Blackhawks will still retain Collin Delia on their roster. The rookie made his NHL debut on Thursday, but was forced to leave the game with an injury. As a result, 36-year-old Scott Foster, the team’s emergency back-up after Forsberg went down, had to play in the final 10 minutes or so of the contest.
With Foster and Delia in action, the Blackhawks have now had six different goaltenders man the net this season, the most they’ve had in a single season since the 2003-04 campaign.
The Blackhawks have four games left on their schedule, beginning with a tilt against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.
