Beaudin Scores, but Blackhawks Fall in Tournament Opener

Sikura and Fortin also scored in the contest

The Chicago Blackhawks kicked off the 2018 Traverse City Prospect Tournament on Friday with a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Alexandre Fortin scored on a penalty shot in the game, and Dylan Sikura also scored, but it wasn’t enough as they fell in their opening contest.

The big headline of the day came thanks to 2018 first round pick Nicolas Beaudin, who scored on a beautiful goal from in near the net during the contest:

Collecting a pass off the boards, Beaudin picked up the puck and ripped it home as he pinched in, and although it wasn’t enough to lead the team to a win in their opening game of the tournament, it was a good showcase of the offensive skill that Beaudin brings to the table.

The Blackhawks will resume their tournament schedule on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes at 2 p.m. in Michigan.
