The Chicago Blackhawks lost for the seventh time in a row Saturday as they were shutout 4-0 by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Sean Couturier scored a pair of goals and added an assist for the Flyers, and Claude Giroux had three points as Philadelphia cruised to a shutout win at Wells-Fargo Arena.

The loss is not only the Blackhawks’ seventh in a row overall, but it also marks yet another loss in Philadelphia, a city the team has not won a regular season game in since 1996. The Blackhawks have gone 0-14-1 in their last 15 games in Philadelphia.

Goaltender Corey Crawford stopped 21 shots in the game, but it wasn’t enough as the team couldn’t get Jeremy Colliton his first NHL coaching victory.

The Blackhawks actually controlled play well in the first period of the game, but couldn’t capitalize, and the Flyers took advantage. Duncan Keith had the puck below the goal line with about five minutes left in the frame, and his pass was intercepted by Giroux, who cruised to the net and rifled a shot past Crawford to make it a 1-0 game.

Just after a Blackhawks’ power play expired in the second period of the game, Couturier made some nifty moves to get around Keith, and then was able to out-muscle Chris Kunitz as he skated to the net and scored to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead.

The Flyers continued to expand their lead in the third period, as Couturier scored his second goal of the game early on and then Nolan Patrick added an empty-netter in the closing minute to give the Flyers a shutout victory.

The Blackhawks will have another chance to end their losing streak on Monday night when they head to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes.
