Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane notched a hat trick on Thursday night against the Minnesota Wild, and in the process he achieved something that has never been accomplished in Blackhawks history.
Kane’s goals gave him 20 on the season, marking the 12th consecutive season that he’s hit that mark. According to the Blackhawks, Kane is now the first player in team history to score 20 or more goals in each of his first 12 seasons with the team.

Kane’s streak isn’t quite the longest in team history, as he still trails the 14 straight seasons in which Blackhawks legend Stan Mikita scored 20 or more times. Legendary forward Bobby Hull also had a remarkable streak of his own, potting 20 or more goals on 13 straight occasions.
The Blackhawks forward is currently on pace to score 42 goals, which would mark the second time in his NHL career that he’s achieved that feat. He could also potentially eclipse 100 points for the second time in his career, but there’s still a long way to go before he could possibly hit that mark.
Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews could soon join Kane's exclusive club, as he's just four goals away from scoring 20 or more in each of his first 12 NHL seasons as well.
Over the last 12 seasons, only Kane and Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin have scored 20 or more goals in each of those years.

The Blackhawks, who have won four of their last five games, will head to Colorado to take on the high-flying Avalanche on Saturday night. After that game, they will return home, and will take on the Boston Bruins in the 2019 Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
