Chicago Blackhawks, NHL Announce Winter Classic Fan Festival

The festival will take place Dec. 29 through the 31st at Millennium Park

The Winter Classic may be in South Bend this winter, but that doesn’t mean Chicago will be shut out, as the NHL announced big plans for the Windy City on Friday.

The Blackhawks, who will play host to the Boston Bruins in that game on Jan. 1, will give fans the opportunity to be a part of the action when they open the NHL Winter Classic Park at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park.

The three day fan festival, which will feature food, live music, autograph sessions with former Blackhawks and Bruins stars, and a special appearance by the Stanley Cup, will begin on Dec. 29 and run through the 31st at the park.

There will be numerous other events around the game as well, including local students getting to travel to South Bend to learn how the ice for the iconic game will be created, as well as a Winter Classic Legacy Event in South Bend, which will benefit the Robinson Community Learning Center in the Indiana town.

Fans are encouraged to download the NHL Fan Access App, which will give them opportunities to win tickets to the game, as well as provide all the latest details on the league.
