Gustav Forsling Called Up by Blackhawks; Marcus Kruger Placed on IR

Forsling missed the first part of the season with a wrist injury, and Kruger is dealing with a leg issue

The Chicago Blackhawks have made a move to improve their defense on Tuesday, as Gustav Forsling has been recalled from the Rockford IceHogs.

Forsling, who was out of action with a wrist injury, notched two assists in five games with the IceHogs while he was on a conditioning assignment. He will join the Blackhawks in Chicago, where they will play the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night.

To make room for Forsling on the active roster, the Blackhawks have placed forward Marcus Kruger on injured reserve with a leg injury. Kruger, who has two goals this season, suffered the injury in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes last week, and has been out of action for the last two games.

The Blackhawks will try to snap their eight game losing streak against the Blues at the United Center on Wednesday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
