David Kampf to Miss Several Weeks, Blackhawks Say

Kampf will miss three to four weeks due to a foot injury

What to Know

  • Kampf has three goals and 13 assist in 50 games this season.
  • The Blackhawks will likely need to make another move at forward, as Kampf's injury leaves the team with 12 forwards.

The Chicago Blackhawks took a hit to their forward depth on Thursday, as it was announced that forward David Kampf will miss several weeks with a foot injury.

According to team physician Dr. Michael Terry, Kampf will miss three to four weeks due to the injury, starting with Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks at the United Center.

In 50 games with the Blackhawks this season, Kampf has three goals and 13 assists, and has eight penalty minutes. He now has seven goals in his NHL career in 96 games, all with the Blackhawks.

Overnight ice and rain plus morning fog left roads slick and visibility limited for the morning commute Thursday. Lauren Petty reports.

It’s unclear whether the Blackhawks will make a roster move to replace Kampf, but it seems likely given that they would only be carrying 12 forwards without him.

Other Notes:

-The Blackhawks also announced that defenseman Duncan Keith would skip morning skate on Thursday, but said it is only a maintenance day and that he’s expected to play against the Canucks.
