Bears DC Vic Fangio Set to Interview for Pair of Head Coaching Gigs, Reports Say

Fangio has been the Bears' defensive coordinator for four seasons

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has put together one of the NFL’s best defenses, and as a result there are several teams looking into hiring him for a more high-profile job.

According to multiple reports, at least two teams have requested permission from the Bears to interview Fangio for their vacant head coaching positions.

The Miami Dolphins are one of those teams after they fired former Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase earlier this week. Gase and the Dolphins missed the playoffs for the second straight year in 2018, and the squad has only made the playoffs once in the last decade.

The Denver Broncos, who fired head coach Vance Joseph, are also looking for a new leader, and Fangio could give them a defensive shot in the arm as they try to keep up with divisional rivals Kansas City and Los Angeles.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Fangio will interview for both jobs on the Monday after the team’s Wild Card game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
